Graham Shine names 36-player Limerick Ladies Senior Football Squad

The Shannonsiders will be looking to build on an impressive 2022 where they reached the league final in the Spring.

Graham Shine has named a 36-player Limerick Senior Ladies Football Squad for the 2023 campaign. Shine and co kick off their campaign this Sunday when they travel to Kilkenny in the first round of the League.

Last year, Limerick reached the decider but were beaten by Offaly as they remain in the bottom tier. They were then bested by Fermanagh in the All-Ireland semi-final.

County champions Monagea are the best represented in the squad with eight players chosen. Intermediate champions Oola have six players in the panel. Both of those clubs reached their respective Munster finals but were each beaten in the decider.

Ballylanders, Old Mill and St Ailbes all have four players in the squad. Overall, there are 11 clubs represented in the squad including Galtee Gaels’ Roisin Breedy who bagged a hat trick in their Junior final win.

There are some notable absentees from the 2023 squad with All-Star Kristine Reidy not named. She is one of five who started last year’s All-Ireland semi-final that are not included alongside Aine McGrath, Niamh Ryan, Mairead Kavanagh and Catriona Davis.

Limerick first travel to Kilkenny in the league this Sunday before receiving a bye the following weekend. They return to action on February 12 against Wicklow with Leitrim for company the following weekend. Shine’s side will round out the group stage of the League on March 5 against Derry.

Shine has also named Kevin Boyle, Tim Kenneally and Mike Quilligan as coaches with Sean Kiely as goalkeeper coach. Stephen Walsh will act as S&C Coach
