Tom Morrissey named on GAA.ie Team of the Week for the second game running

Limerick moved within a point of the league semi-finals with a facile victory over Westmeath at the weekend.

Scorer in chief in their 12-point win over Westmeath at the weekend, Tom Morrissey has been named on the GAA.ie Team of the Week. He is the sole Limerick representative after shooting 0-9 in the victory in Mullingar.

It is a second successive selection for Morrissey who was also chosen to the team after bagging the same total in the third-round win over Galway. Thomas Monaghan of Galway is also named for the second game running.

The Ahane native subsequently went on to win the Hurler of the Week award. He is pipped in that regard by Kilkenny’s Billy Drennan, Tipperary’s Jake Morris and Galway’s Conor Cooney who are on this week’s shortlist.

Kilkenny have three players on this week’s team, Wexford have two, as do Galway while Limerick, Antrim, Cork, Kildare, Waterford, Offaly, Roscommon and Tipp have one apiece.

It keeps Limerick’s tally of players named on the team of the week at five after Morrissey was joined by brother Dan and Barry Nash following the Salthill win with Micheal Houlihan & Kyle Hayes on the second round team.
