Ardscoil Ris suffer another agonizing defeat to St Kieran’s of Kilkenny

Harty Cup champions Ardscoil Ris have again failed to overcome their Kilkenny counterparts, losing out on a 1-14 to 0-19 score line in the All-Ireland semi-final in Clonmel on Wednesday.

The North Circular Road school have now lost out to Kieran’s in three Croke Cup deciders and two semi-final clashes.

Ardscoil were within touching distance of the Kilkenny school at half time as they trailed by two points at the break.

Kieran’s started the brighter after the restart adding three points to extend their lead to five.

On the 42nd minute Rian Considine hit the back of the net for Ardscoil to give his side hope of a comeback.

It looked as though Liam Cronin’s side had all the momentum in their favour as they leveled up proceedings with 10 minutes to go, through points from Paul O’Brien and Diarmuid Ryan.

However, St Kieran’s weren’t to be outdone as they kicked on with a strong and composed finish.

The Kilkenny kingpins will now face Presentation Athenry in this year’s final next weekend.
