With the Sport Huskies on a bye weeekend, there were victories for the remaining Limerick sides in the National Basketball League.

It was a successful weekend for Limerick sides in the National Basketball League with each of the teams in action all on the winning side.

The Limerick Sport Eagles kicked off the weekend with victory, again breaking the century barrier, as they ran out 105-78 winners over the Killarney Cougars. Manny Peyton notched 31 points for the Eagles which sends them to second place in the table.

Just above them in the table is fellow Limerick side the Celtics who were victorious in their clash with the Drogheda Wolves. The score ended 99-94, with a strong final quarter getting them over the line and putting the side top of the tree ahead of their weekend break.

In the Women’s Division One, the Limerick Celtics maintained their impressive start to the campaign with their fourth win from five coming against SETU Carlow. The game finished 96-78, as the Celtics climb up to third in the table with the two sides ahead of them enjoying unbeaten starts to their campaign.

The league will take a break next weekend to facilitate the cup fixtures but a Limerick derby between first and second placed Limerick Celtics and Limerick Sport Eagles awaits the following weekend which is sure to be a cracking tie.
