Football fundraiser proves a great success

On Saturday last a large contingent of walkers took to the Great Southern Trail Greenway (Rathkeale – Newcastlewest) for the ‘Friends of Limerick Football’ annual fundraiser in association with Club Limerick.

Current Senior Football manager Billy Lee with former stalwart Stephen Lavin.

It was great to see the past, present and future stars of Limerick Football participating as well as county board officers, team mentors and managers and special thanks to the members of the public and the large contingent from The Ballyhoura Bears Walking Club who showed their support.

Thanks to those who gave donations and others who had sponsor cards.  All monies raised go towards the Limerick Underage Football Academies and Minor, U20 and Senior Training Funds.

The event was a great success and we extend our appreciation to all those who organised and helped on the day to ensure the smooth running. Special thanks to Rathkeale House Hotel, John Flaherty who provided the transport and Davy Mann of the Ballintemple Inn for the refreshments.

We hope you all enjoyed the Great Southern Trail Greenway experience.
