Ireland Women’s head coach, Adam Griggs has made two changes from last weekends Irish side to face Italy this Sunday at Donnybrook at 1pm. Kate Fitzhenry and Paula Fitzpatrick come into the side at centre and second row respectively.
Fitzhenry moves into the side after competing with the Irish Women’s sevens side last weekend in the Sydney 7s. There are two uncapped players named on the bench in Edel McMahon and Michelle Claffey.
Once again there is a strong UL Bohemians contingent in the Irish squad. Niamh Briggs starts at out-half while Fiona Reidy starts as tighthead prop. Anna Caplice is joined in the back row by captain Ciara Griffin who is named as No. 8. Bohs Nicole Cronin is named among the replacements.
Ireland will be looking to bounce back after last weeks disappointing 24-0 loss to France. However, they should be buoyed by home comforts this weekend and are expected to have too much for their Italian counterparts.
