Weekly Observer Desmond Cup Quarter Finals
Creeves Celtic 1-3 Broadford Utd
In an all-Premier Division quarter-final, the away side prevailed. The first half saw Broadford take a 2-1 lead. Jack Pierce and Brian Sullivan on target, with Eoin McEnery on target for the home side. Pierce sealed the result in the second half, as the League holders got over the hurdle the stumbled at 12 months ago. Creeves now focus on their league campaign, with a run at the title still very possible, with seven games remaining, they are tied with Rathkeale and Newcastle West at the top.
Breska Rovers 0-2 Glin Rovers
Joining Broadford United in the last four are Glin Rovers, who profited from two second half corners to eliminate Premier side, Breska Rovers. Jack Sheahan appeared to get the final touch from a messy front post corner, in a tightly fought contest. That goal, on the hour mark, was added to when the same player scored directly from a corner on 80 minutes. Breska had been the better side during the 20 minutes, but rarely worked Mike Stack in the away goal. Their focus now on extending their two-year stay in the top flight.

Newcastle West Town 4-1 Athea Utd
With the League title is still a possibility for a few sides, it was important for Newcastle West Town to keep themselves in the mix. They were much the better of the two sides, as they took maximum points against a struggling Athea United. Jack Duggan’s early goal from an Aaron Mullane cross set them on their way, with Dylan Moloney repeating the trick just after half-time.
However, Danny Stack netted a penalty with the second half just ten minutes old. The hope was quickly taken from United, when Jake Power replied to make it 3-1 on the hour mark.
Duggan made sure of the home win with a further insurance goal in the final ten minutes. Newcastle West are in a three way tie at the summit, with exactly half their games remaining.
