IHC | Na Piarsaigh and Croagh-Kilfinny maintain winning ways in IHC Round Two

All twelve sides were in action in the Intermediate Hurling Championship over the weekend.

Three sides are yet to lose in the Intermediate Hurling Championship as the second round of fixtures took place over the weekend.

Na Piarsaigh and Croagh-Kilfinny have maintained their 100% starts with successive victories while Croom got their first win of the campaign after an opening day draw.

In group one, Na Piarsaigh earned a fine victory against Caherline with the score being 2-19 to 0-14. It was a last gasp Shane Dowling goal that earned them the victory last week but things were a lot less dramatic this time around as they look a very strong outfit for the title this season.

Croom were also victorious in the group after a 2-22 to 2-13 result over Murroe-Boher. A high-scoring contest which saw Croom build on last week’s draw against Caherline and maintain their unbeaten start to the championship. Murroe-Boher sit bottom of the group with zero points following their relegation last year.

The third game in the group saw Feohanagh victorious by 1-15 to 0-15 against Bruree. The sides were unlucky not to get anything out of their dramatic game against Na Piarsaigh but finally have points on the board and are now level with their opponents.

After losing the 2021 final to Effin, group two’s Croagh-Kilfinny are looking like contenders to make it one better this year and narrowly secured the two points with a 0-19 to 1-15 victory over Pallasgreen. The West side were leading throughout the game and were able to see the margin out to the final whistle in a tight encounter. It’s been two one-point victories in a row for Croagh-Kilfinny.

Kilmallock are yet to earn a point after they were beaten 2-17 to 1-18 by Knockaderry, who earned their first win of the championship. Surprisingly, Kilmallock are the joint highest-scorers in the group but have been conceding far too much.

The other top-scoring side, Hospital-Herbertstown, sit second bottom of the pile after a six-point defeat against Granagh-Ballingarry. The latter are one of four teams that sit on two points in the group but are sitting in second thanks to their five-point score difference.

The next IHC fixtures will be played on the 1st of September as the Football Championship makes its return.
