Kevin Boyle looks ahead to start of season clash against Mungret St Pauls

The 2021 Limerick Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship kicks off next weekend.

Kevin Boyle’s Murroe Boher side will face the challenge of last yeas finalists Mungret St Pauls, which will be a tricky fixture as Murroe faced relegation in the last campaign.

Speaking ahead of the tie Boyle mentioned the task they face and the value of getting off to a bright start to kick start the campaign as he stated:

“They’ve been very strong here the last couple of years… We were very disappointed to be relegated last year so I’m sure both teams will be looking for a big performance to get off to a good start”.

Following last years disappointment, Boyle and his side will look to illustrate their potential in the championship

However, the manager understands the competitive nature of the championship and the skill level of the other teams competing.

“It will be a tough competition, it always is, we were here a couple of years ago, there’s no easy games so were just going take it game by game.

“They’ve gone very well, obviously there’s been a few Covid issues throughout the year but… We just try to push on with whoever we have on the day.

“It’s the first game of the year, get a winning start if we can and make sure everyone puts their best foot forward and take every game as it comes.”

With the absence of former star Seánie Tobin, Murroe will of course feel his absence, however Boyle feels they have more than enough ability and young players with potential to pick up the responsibilities in the team.

“Seánie was a massive loss, no doubt about that, Seamus Hickey gone the year before as well and they’re big blows, big players, but we’ve young Jack Nicholas here, young Mikey Ryan, these lads are well able to step up”.
