Limerick Intermediate and Premier Junior Final Fixtures confirmed for bumper football final weekend

Both sides booked their place in the IFC final on Saturday.

Kildimo Pallaskenry and Rathkeale will meet under lights in Mick Neville Park in the 2021 Limerick Intermediate Final on Thursday October 28th at 7.30pm.

The fixture was confirmed on Sunday evening with the Senior final down for decision the following day in the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

The clash will begin a weekend of county football finals as the Premier Junior final takes place on the Saturday 31.

On Saturday afternoon, both sides were victorious in their respective semi-finals. Kildimo Pallaskenry overcame St Senans 2-11 to 2-9 with Darren O’Connell bagging a brace of goals for the City outfit. At the same time, green flags from Dean Maune and Eoin Kelly ensured Rathkeale’s progress with a 2-11 to 1-10 win over last year’s finalists Gerald Griffins.

Rathkeale will be appearing in a second final since their relegation from the top tier in 2017. Three years ago they were beaten by Galbally in the promotion decider. That year, Kildimo Pallaskenry were featuring in the Junior A final as they now look forward to a first final at the grade.

Interestingly, Rathkeale will hold home advantage in the final with Mick Neville Park to host its second intermediate final since 2017.

One of the aformentioned sides will replace Na Piarsaigh in the top tier for 2022 after they fell to Galbally in the relegation final 3-12 to 2-6, ending their seven year stint in the senior championship.

The Premier Junior Final will take place on Sunday October 31 with Fr Caseys and Newcastle West meeting in the decider. Fr Caseys booked their place in the final on Saturday with a 2-9 to 2-7 win over Croom while Newcastle West beat Mountcollins 2-14 to 3-6.

That game throws in at 3pm in Tournafulla.
