Limerick ladies fall to second league loss at home to Wexford

Limerick’s ladies footballers remain without a win in Division 3 of the Lidl Ladies National Football League following a 1-12 to 1-6 loss to Wexford at Mick Neville Park this evening.

The Mike Quilligan and Sean Kiely managed team were one-point up at the break but were outplayed in the second half.

Limerick managed just four points after the break with Iris Kenneally and Deborah Murphy their only scorers on the day.

The home side edged a dour first half with Kenneally landing 1-1. Her goal coming from the penalty spot after Rebecca Delee was fouled. Murphy was also on the target to help Limerick to a 1-2 to 0-3 lead at half time.

Wexford wasted little time in taking a firm grip on the game in the second half thanks to Ailish Neville’s goal and two points from Caoilfhionn Ni Nuallain.

Scores from Kenneally and a Murphy free twice brought Limerick to within a point but failure to register a score between the 41st and 60th minute condemned the team to a second defeat from two league games. They play Offaly next week in Edenderry in their third fixture.

Scorers for Limerick: Iris Kenneally 1-4 (1-0 pen), Deborah Murphy 0-2 (1f).
