Limerick scoop four All-Stars at 2024 PWC Awards

Munster champions Limerick claimed another quartet of All-Star awards on Friday evening, as Nickie Quaid, Dan Morrissey, Kyle Hayes and Gearoid Hegarty were all rewarded for strong seasons with the Treaty.

Hayes missed out on the Hurler of the Year award, which went to Clare’s star forward, Shane O’Donnell. Meanwhile, Cathal O’Neill, nominated for Young Hurler of the Year, saw Adam Hogan, also of Clare collect the gong.

It is a third All-Star for Effin’s Quaid, who holds the record for most championship appearances for the Treaty. He was also named at number one in the team in both 2020 an 2022.

For Dan Morrissey and Ahane, he was named at number three and collects his fourth All-Star award. The powerful full-back also collected awards in 2018, 2020 and 2023.

2018 Young Hurler of the Year Hayes collects a fifth award. The versatile Kildimo Pallaskenry star has collected an award in each of the last five seasons, it brings him level with South Liberties Pat Hartigan, while Joe McKenna (6) is the only Limerick man with more. This run of five matches Hartigan’s five-in-a-row between 1971 and 1975.

St. Patrick’s star Gearoid Hegarty wins his fourth award. The 2020 Hurler of the Year previously scooped awards in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The 2024 All Star team features an entire Munster XV, with six for Clare, five for Cork and four for John Kiely’s Limerick.
