Limerick’s All-Ireland path clearer as Munster final win propels Kiely’s men into last four

It will be a fifth successive All-Ireland final spot for Limerick after yesterday’s Munster win.

Limerick sealed their place in the All-Ireland semi-finals after beating Clare for a fourth successive Munster title yesterday in Thurles.

Kiely’s men were made to wok with the game going to extra-time following Tony Kelly’s last gasp sideline cut.

But Limerick pulled away in extra-time, fending off any Clare attack for a 1-29 to 0-29 win AET.

Limerick’s prize for the win is a spot in the last four of the All-Ireland, their fifth successive year reaching that mark.

Kilkenny are also assured of their semi-final spot after they defeated Galway in the Leinster final on Saturday evening.

Limerick’s semi-final will be played on Sunday 3 July while Kilkenny are in action the previous day.

This weekend, Cork take on McDonagh Cup champions Antrim while Wexford meet Kerry.

The winner of Cork/Antrim will take on Galway in the All-Ireland quarter-final. Whoever comes out on top in that game will meet Limerick in the All-Ireland semi-final.

Limerick have beaten both Cork (2018) and Galway (2020) in the last four in recent years, while they have also won All-Ireland titles at their expense since Kiely’s appointment, Cork last year and Galway in ’18.
