Limerick’s attempt to reclaim their National League title came to a sudden halt last month with the suspension of the GAA season.
Limerick had gone five from five in the league and looked poised to retain their title.
For William O’Donoghue, he doesn’t read too much into Limerick’s early season form, other than the fact that there were a couple of good results.
“Of course we were quite happy with the National League with a lot of scope for improvement. I wouldn’t particularly say it was disappointing, but if it is given a green light and something does happen that we would pick in a better position than we left off.
“You can’t be looking back and saying ‘we were in a good place’ or ‘such-and-such could have been’.
“The events that have happened over the last few weeks aren’t exactly normal, aren’t exactly ones that anyone could have seen coming.
“You just have to take it as it comes and just look at it for what it was, take it for what it is which is a couple of good performances in February and early March.”
Nonetheless, O’Donoghue is keen to get back to action in whatever shape that is, whenever it is safe to do so.
“It would have to be on the grounds that social distancing has been lifted and it’s safe to return to a training environment and no one is at risk.
“If it was safe to do so, I don’t think any player would have any problems with any kind of championship.”
