Mixed reaction as New Balance unveil new Irish soccer jersey

After 23 years, it was announced earlier this year that Umbro would not be the official kit supplier to the Republic of Ireland national soccer team. It was revealed that American company New Balance would supply the new gear. Having already demonstrated their prowess with popular kits produced for Liverpool, Celtic and Shamrock Rovers, there was much hype surrounding the reveal of the new jersey.

Earlier today New Balance tweeted to confirm the design of the new jersey which will also be available in Women’s fit. The reaction has been mixed to say the least as some have blasted the simplicity of the design whilst others have been highly complimentary of the new kit.

Ireland currently lie in second place in Group D, level on 12 points with Serbia, trailing only on goal difference. Ireland have four games left in the group with Georgia next up on September 2. Ireland finish the group with a mouthwatering clash with Wales on October 9 in the Cardiff City Stadium.

What do you make of the new kit?
