Newcastle beat Ballysteen as both progress in SFC

Newcastle West beat Ballysteen 2-7 to 0-5 in Group 1 of the SFC in the Bog Garden tonight.

That win sees both sides through to the quarter finals with NCW topping the group.

It also ensures that Drom Broadford face Na Piarsaigh in the relegation semi finals.

A pair of Diarmuid Kelly frees gave Newcastle the early advantage.

A Mark Ranahan free halved the deficit which the was the final score before the water break.
Brian Hurleys score after a half hour was the next score to leave it at 0-3 to 0-1 at the half.

The first goal would come right after the restart as Brian Nix goaled after a well worked move.

Iain Corbett and Darragh Ranahan exchanges scores before a big deflection gave Newcastle West their second goal.

Cian Sheahan would add to the lead to give them a 2-5 to 0-2 lead at the water break.

Eoin Hurley and Tomas Sheahan traded points before Mark Ranahan got two on the bounce.


Mike McMahon would then finish off the scoring with the last point of the game.
