Knockout picture clearer in SFC as Oola and Monaleen pick up wins

Wins for Oola and Monaleen in the Limerick SFC on Saturday night has cleared up the quarter-final picture in the championship, with the last eight pairings.

In Kilmallock, Oola were 2-8 to 0-8 winners over Ballylanders while Monaleen beat Galbally 0-12 to 0-6 in Bruff.

That means that Oola will play Galbally in the quarters while Monaleen meet Ballylanders.

In Kilmallock, first half goals from Oola put them in a commanding 2-4 to 0-4 half time lead.

Josh Ryan and James Power were the men to get the goals for last year’s county finalists.

Ballylanders did reduce the lead to four shortly after the break but would be as close as they got as Oola eased to a six point lead.

In the evening’s other game, Monaleen eventually saw off Galbally to seal their spot at the top of the group.

Galbally had the opening pair of scores before Monaleen responded with four on the trot.

Two more from the South side would have it level at 0-4 apiece at the break.

Monaleen would regain a two point lead early into the half before the teams exchanged scores heading into the final quarter.

With seven minutes of normal time remaining, Mike Donovan had the gap down to one but Monaleen’s response was emphatic as they hit the final five scores to ease to the win.
