PREVIEW: Kilmallock vs Na Piarsaigh

Kilmallock and Na Piarsaigh kick-off their 2020 Bon Secours Senior Hurling Championship campaigns at 19:30 tonight when they clash in the Gaelic Grounds.

The game will be shown live and exclusively on TG4.

Philip O’Loughlin handpasses to safety in the 2019 Limerick SHC semi-final clash between Kilmallock and Na Piarrsaigh.

Na Piarsaigh will be looking to get off to a good start having won half of the championships on offer in the last decade as well as an All Ireland club and four Munster club championships.

It will not be easy, however, as they look to bounce back from last season’s county final defeat while also coping without the now-retired Shane Dowling.

Kilmallock will have last season’s two defeats to tonight’s opponents fresh in their minds – they fell to a 6-15 to 2-11 defeat in the first round before losing 0-23 to 0-18 in the semi-final.

Kilmallock have added youth to their line-up, calling up a number of their 2018 U21 Premier County winning team.

However, they will be still heavy underdogs as they search for a first win over the Caherdavin side since the 2014 County Final.

The loser of tonights game will go on to face Ahane next weekend while the winners put one foot in the knockout stages.
