After four wins on the spin, in-form Treaty United welcome league leaders Galway United to the Markets Field this Friday evening, hoping to continue their ascent up the table. Kick-off is 7.45pm, at the Garryowen venue.
Tommy Barrett’s men are looking to make it five wins from five, after setting a club record four on the bounce with their 3-0 away win over Longford Town but at a cost as Ben O’ Riordan was sent off late in the clash.
O’Riordan will miss the clash but Barrett will be hopeful that Mark Walsh, Success Edogun and Anto O’Donnell are near a return.
Enda Curran who bagged a brace in that away victory will be hoping to find the target against another former club. The striker, as well as Marc Ludden, hails from Galway, with the duo having played with the Tribesmen for prolonged spells during their League of Ireland careers.
Treaty goalkeeper Shane Hallahan has kept three clean sheets in his last four games and he will be hoping to keep this run of form going on Friday night. The Limerick side will be looking to avenge the early season loss away to Galway in February. Rob Slevin’s strike the only goal of the contest.
Galway, who are 10 points clear at the top of the table, will be hoping to keep their impressive form going – winning 13 from 14 outings as they look to return to the top flight. Barrett’s men will be keeping a close eye on Galway hotshot Vincent Borden who is their leading scorer with eight goals this season.
Two players who will be familiar to the Markets Fields faithful is former Treaty midfielder Ed McCarthy and former Limerick FC defender, Killian Brouder, native of Newcastle West. McCarthy netted twice in 21 outings during the 2021 season.
Galway will be without Rob Slevin and Stephen Walsh through suspension, having accumulated five yellow cards each.
