Star-studded UL Fresher team look to complete perfect season in All-Ireland final

The Limerick University will be looking to complete a Fresher and Fitzgibbon Cup double in the First year final tonight.

The University of Limerick take on DCU tonight in Dangan in the Fresher Hurling All-Ireland final. The game throws in at 7pm and will be live streamed from Galway.

UL captured the League title in February with a win over NUIG that doubled as a championship clash and have looked invincible this year.

They beat Limerick rivals, TUS MidWest and Mary I in the first two rounds with the win over NUIG booking their place in the semi-finals.

In the last four, they destroyed UCD 6-32 to 2-8 to book their place in the decider with DCU. The Dublin college overcame MTU Cork by 2-21 to 3-15 in their last four tie.

UL have a host of intercounty players in their line up including All-Ireland winners Colin Coughlan and Cathal O’Neill, who both started for Limerick in their draw with Clare on Sunday.

Adam English also started that game with Pa Crotty, the UL captain, introduced in the second half.

UL also have Aiden O’Connor (Ballybrown), who scored 1-11 in the semi-final in their ranks with Ethan Hurley of Newcastle West at centre back.

Mungret St Pauls trio Barry Duff, Brian O’Meara and Liam Lynch (inj) are among the substitutes as are Chris Thomas of Doon and Ronan Lyons of Monaleen.

The match programme can be accessed here.

The game will be live streamed on the GAA Higher Ed YouTube and Facebook channels from 7pm tonight.
