“There won’t be an inch given or taken” | Declan Hannon previews Munster Hurling Final with Clare

Hannon will lead Limerick out on Munster final day for the fourth successive year.

Declan Hannon and the Limerick hurlers will seek to emulate the great side of the 1930s this Sunday as they look to complete a quadruple of Munster titles back-to-back.

Hannon, who will be appearing in a sixth Munster decider, says he cannot wait for the game as the crowd return to the showpiece provincial final for the first time since 2019.

“Of course its a Munster final at the end of the day, both teams are going out to win it.

“As you said last time was a draw but there is a trophy on the line the next day in Thurles so both teams are going hell for leather and their wont be a inch given or taken so I’m looking forward to it its great even for supporters for it to be a full house again it will be the first time since 2019 in a Munster championship where there will be a full house allowed.

“Whether its full or not I don’t know but its great its a fantastic occasion for the family’s and the supporter as well so I cant wait for it now.”

This will be the first time that Hannon has faced Clare in the Munster final but he is under no illusions of the threat that the Banner will hold having faced them just three weeks ago.

“Ah huge they have fantastic players like who have been really successful. A lot of the would have All-Ireland medals, U21 Munster championships and All-Ireland championships as well so there is a lot of experience there and really really good players I suppose they put oppositions under savage pressure they have done that all year so I’m not surprised one bit that they have made it to the Munster final and its obviously going to be another huge occasion.

“They are probably the in form team right now and we are going to have our work cut out to get the better of them next Sunday”
