Limerick FC manager Tommy Barrett was clearly disappointed with his side’s 0-1 home defeat against Shelbourne on Friday night. The former player felt his side deserved more from the game but was also critical of two mistakes made by his side leading to the defeat.
Limerick goalkeeper Jack Brady has been one of the standout performers for the club this season but his mistake led to the only goal of the game through Ciaran Kilduff in the first half. Also, Darren Murphy missed a first half penalty which could have changed the tie.
Barrett re-iterated the squad’s desire to claim a play-off place as automatic promotion seems all but gone from Limerick after the defeat.
“We will try out best to do that (get a play off place) but even that is going to be difficult. Everyone else is strengthening and even though we might sign one or two players who cost nothing, other clubs can sign professional players. “
