WATCH: “I’ve some head on me”- Cian Lynch’s hilarious reaction to photograph with his mother

As the dust finally begins to settle on Limerick’s historic All Ireland victory, fans and players alike can now begin to comprehend the achievement of John Kiely and his troops in Croke Park on 19 August 2018. Although only 22 years of age, the success was Cian Lynch’s third All Ireland medal with Limerick between U21s and now Seniors.

The morning after the game, Off the Ball, Newstalk’s podcast, caught up with Lynch to get his thoughts after a whirlwind game. One thing that came up was a photo of Lynch with his mother Valerie embracing after the game. Without seeing the photo Lynch explained what the moments after the game were like with his mother.

“I havent seen it (the photo) at all…The mother actually hoped over the fence and got onto the pitch at Croke Park yesterday. Id say theres still a warrant out for her.”

“I put the head down. I actually struggled to breathe for a few minutes. You’re thinking, we’re after winning an All Ireland , a dream come true.”

“She was the woman that was there for me from the beginning with my family and just to see her on the pitch, smiling and going around to everyone, it puts it into perspective.”

Lynch was eventually sent on the photograph of him and his mother after to game to which he replied,

“I’ve some head on me don’t I. That’s lovely, she will be delighted with that!”.
