Limerick manager John Kiely cut a happy figure following his side’s hard fought win over a dogged Wexford side on a 1-17 to 2-11 scoreline to make a winning return to 1A Hurling.
Speaking to the media after the game Kiely said “I was delighted to get two points and get off the mark and get a win. Any day you get a win down here is a good day’s work.”
He also praised the way Limerick finished he game with Gearoid Hegarty, Darragh O’Donovan and Barry Murphy all adding late points to create a bit of daylight between the sides.
“It was there until the very end but I’m delighted the way we got the last couple of scores as well. Barry Murphy came on, made a good impact, Darragh O’Donovan came on, made a good impact.
“I think the lads coming off the bench made a good impact today and I am delighted with them. Our defence held up very well too.”
