WATCH: John McGrath speaks in the wake of Galtee Gaels promotion to the SFC

Galtee Gaels will compete in the Limerick SFC in 2020 after beating Gerald Griffins in a replay of the Intermediate final yesterday.

Derek Gallahue would score the crucial goal with Galtee Gaels winning at this rank for the first time since 1993.

Gerald Griffins made much of the early running, racing into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead as they did in the first game.

However, Bob Childs would keep the men from the Galtee Gaels within touching distance with his unnering accuracy from frees.

With time running out in the first half, Galtee took the lead for the first time through Tommie Childs before a Jamie Long point saw the sides go into the break level at 0-7 apiece.

Gerald Griffins opened the scoring in the second half before Gallahue got that goal. Two successive points had Galtee five clear with fifteen minutes remaining.

With ten to go Griffins had the deficit back to a single goal but there would be just a single more score with Galtee Gaels winning out by two in the finish to set up a clash with the Clare champions in Munster.
