WATCH: Newcastle West’s Kate Ambrose on working hard to come back and win this year’s championship

Ahead of the Neville Jewellers Camogie Championship, we caught up with Kate Ambrose of Newcastle West to talk over what she’s expecting in the lead-up to the start of this year’s championship.

Having been beaten finalists in the last iteration of the competition, Newcastle West will be hoping to go on better this time out.

“This year we’re fighting for it, we’re really determined and training hard to come back and win it.”

With a good summer league campaign under their belt, Ambrose will be hoping for the team to kick on using the experience gained from that.

“It gave the younger girls the chance to come up and try to earn a position, some of the county girls are really fighting for their position this year.”

On the opening weekend of the championship, Ambrose and Co will be facing off against Ahane.

Speaking ahead of the game, Ambrose is expecting a close affair.

“They beat us in the summer league so we’re definitely fighting to beat them and it’s a home game so hopefully, we get the win.”
