In what was a bad at the office for Munster on Saturday afternoon, captain Peter O’Mahony was less than happy about a line of questioning from former Leinster player and current TG4 pundit Reggie Corrigan.
Munster had to make do with a losing bonus point which in truth flattered them as they fell to a 23-17 defeat and will hopefully focus the mind ahead of a crucial trip to Castres next weekend.
In the post match interview, Corrigan asked O’Mahony about Munster’s intensity during the contest which the Corkman was visibly unhappy about, replying “What do you mean? Are you questioning my team-mates?”
In the post game press conference, O’Mahony told journalists that it was a “silly” question from Corrigan and explained his reaction to RTE:
Essentially he’s calling myself and my team-mates out, saying we’re not trying hard enough, questioning are we working hard enough and do we want it enough.
I’m a very proud man, a very proud Munster man, a very proud Irish man and that’s a question of the core of everything.
Everything we do in Munster rugby and Irish rugby is based around work-rate and your want to win and how relentless you can be and for someone to question that I’d take huge offence to.
