WATCH: “We know what the stakes are”- John Kiely ahead of Clare clash

Limerick begin their Munster championship this Sunday with a trip t Thurles to play Clare in the quarter-finals.

The winners will face Tipperary in the last four.

The game will not only begin their defence of the their Munster title but also double as a League final.

Limerick manager John Kiely says he is paying little heed to the context of the game as he is focused on getting his side in the best possible shape ahead of what could be a very busy period or extremely quiet winter.

“I haven’t really thought much about it. Its the furthest thing from my mind at the moment. We are focused on preparing ourselves, the group each day, getting through each session because there’s an awful lot going on as you can imagine with getting 50 people to a session and making sure everyone is in good shape physically and medically as well.

“For us in the context of the game, it’s the Munster quarter final. Obviously it’s the league final as well but that wasn’t our decision so we just have to roll with whatever the authorities lines out.

“Its not the most ideal situation or how we would have liked it but this is just exceptional circumstances. It is what it is.

“It is the Munster quarter-final and the League final, we know what the stakes are.”
