Chiedozie Ogbene continues to be linked with top English clubs

Aston Villa are the latest club reported to have an interest in signing the talented attacker.

Flying Limerick FC winger Chiedozie Ogbene has been linked with some of English football’s biggest names since the end of the Airtricity Premier Division campaign.

The Nigerian born wide man had been reportedly on trial with Chelsea as of late and now The Irish Examiner state that Championship side Aston Villa are now showing an interest in the 20-year-old.

Ogbene was outstanding for Limerick last season, scoring 8 goals in 38 appearances.

Most of his football was played on the wing but at times the former Cork City man was asked to play up front as manager Neil McDonald experimented with a few different formations in the early stages of his Limerick tenure.

The pacey attacker still has a year left on his contract with the Super Blues, following his move from Cork last season.

Limerick fans would no doubt like to hang on to their main attacking threat for another season but it seems as though a move to the UK will be too much of a temptation for the highly motivated youngster.

Watch – some highlights of Ogbene in action for Limerick this season.
