WATCH: Match highlights as Ardscoil Rís power into Harty Semi Finals

There was mixed results for Limerick sides in the Harty Cup 1/4 finals as Ardscoil Rís had 21-points to spare over Gaelcholaiste Mhuire while there was heartbreak at the death for John the Baptist Community School from Hospital who put All Ireland champions Our Lady’s Templemore to the pin of their collars in an absorbing 1-point defeat.

In a wet and wind Dundrum, Our Lady’s Templemore had the minimum to spare over JTB Hospital with a 1-14 to 0-16 point win. While the county Limerick side will be disappointed to come out the wrong side of such a narrow defeat, the school, players and coaches come out of the season with immense credit and a self belief that the can compete at the top level of schools hurling in Munster.

A 64th minute free clinched victory for the Templemore school who trailed 0-3 to 0-0 early on but regrouped to go into the half time interval trailing by just one point (0-9 to 0-8). It was a rather scrappy goal as the game entered the latter quarter that levelled proceedings just as JTB Hospital looked to be taking control.

The score now stood at Our Lady’s 1-10 to JTB Hospital 0-13 but ultimately it was the Tipperary side that advance to play Midleton the semi final.

The other 1/4 final with a Limerick side involved was a far more straightforward affair with Ardscoil simply having too much for Gaelcholaiste Mhuire. The Limerick side took a 1-09 to 0-1 point lead into the break and were full value for their lead given the dominance displayed in the opening 30 minutes.

Diarmuid Ryan, a recent call up to the Clare senior hurling ranks, bagged their first goal before Cathal O’Neill and Riain Considine, who played for Clare in last season’s Munster minor hurling final, also raised green flags. It was fair to say that Ardscoil never really progressed beyond 3rd gear in this one but will face a tricky challenge from CBS Cork in the semi final.

Our Lady’s Templemore 1-14 John The Baptist CS Hospital 0-16
Árdscoil Rís 3-20 Gaelcholáiste Mhuire AG 1-5
