WATCH: Doon & Kilmallock book their places in SHC semi finals

Doon and Kilmallock joined Patrickswell and Na Piarsaigh in the 2019 Limerick SHC after quarter final victories today.

Doon were 1-23 to 2-15 victors over Ballybrown in the second quarter final at the LIT Gaelic Grounds.

Tom Murphy’s side were 0-17 to 1-13 ahead when Cormac Ryan popped up with their goal after Denis Moloney’s sublime delivery.

Ballybrown had the perfect start to the game when Shane Kenny found the net after just 20 seconds.

Kenny, Killian Gavin and Andrew Cliffe were a constant source of worry for the Doon defence in the first half. Ballybrown led by 1-9 to 0-9 after a tight first half.

Cliffe had four points in the first half and made it five soon after the second half began.

However, Doon hit the next four points to level the game for just the second time.

The sides were still neck and neck 13 minutes into the second half, but two Jack Ryan points put Doon ahead.

Cliffe cut the gap to one with his eighth of the contest, but Cormac Ryan’s goal gave Doon a four point lead in the 47th minute.

The east Limerick side controlled the remainder of the game and were five point victors despite Ross Griffin’s late goal for Ballybrown.

In the earlier game at Limerick GAA HQ, Kilmallock saw off a strong challenge from Ahane, coming out on top by 0-22 to 1-14.

John Brudair’s Kilmallock took a one point advantage into the second half following a nip and tuck first half.

Ahane were ably led in attack by the ageless Niall Moran and Morrissey brothers Tom and Dan.

Kilmallock began to take a hold of the game on 41 minutes when Jake Mulcahy put them 0-15 to 0-12 up.

The same man added another moments late, before Kevin O’Donnell increased their advantage to five points.

A long range Gavin O’Mahony saw that lead to seven going into the closing stages. Moran hit the net with a 21-metre free four minutes from time, but it came too late for Ahane to make a comeback.

Kilmallock will play Na Piarsaigh in the semi final, while Doon take on Patrickswell. Both games take place at the LIT Gaelic Grounds on Sunday, September 22.
