WATCH: Connolly previews U-13 League Cup Final

Limerick FC U-13s take on St. Patrick’s Athletic in the Airtricity League Cup final on Saturday afternoon at Jackman Park (1pm). Limerick’s young guns defeated Cork City in the semi-final.

Manager Niall Connolly is excited about the prospect of leading the side to silverware but is also keen to stress the need for the young players to remain calm and treat it as “just another game.”

“Its the inaugural U-13 National Cup Final so obviously there has been a lot of publicity in the last week about it. I think for the players the most important thing to remember is that while it is a League Cup Final, it’s just the next game.

Our main focus should be on how we play and how we play to the philosophy within the academy. The players are really looking forward to it and there has been a really good atmosphere ahead of it.”

Connolly has been involved with Limerick FC for three years now and believes the academy structures are vital for the future of the Airtricity League and Irish football in general.

He also speaks about the team’s journey to the League Cup Final and encourages the public to support his side at Jackman Park.
