LISTEN: Pat Purcell Chooses Best 11

Limerick FC legend and former long-term captain Pat Purcell was the latest man to undertake our challenge of selecting the best 11 players that he has played with. Unfortunately due to some sound issues, we are unable to hear Pat’s last pick which was current Nottingham Forest and Ireland international Daryl Murphy, who he had an 18 month spell with at Waterford.

Purcell came to notoriety with Fairview Rangers in 1998 and won Munster Junior Cups and an FAI Junior Cup during his two year spell before a big move to St. Patrick’s Athletic.

However, he is mainly associated with Limerick FC following 11 seasons with the club either side of a two-year spell with Waterford United. Up until recently, the commanding centre-back was still leading the defence for Newmarket Celtic of Clare.

With this mind, Purcell’s 1-11 is a very interesting listen.
