LDMC Announce Revised Start Dates for Soccer

The Limerick District League Committee have announced that the 2020/2021 amateur junior league season will begin on August 18th. The orginial date set was October 16th due to the uncertainty surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic.

Many clubs have resumed training in the previous two weeks and the powers that be have stated that friendly games can be organised from July 18th. As has been the case for the previous three years, at least four days notice must be given to fixtures secretary Mike O’Regan as an official referee must be appointed.

Any club that wishes to enter or leave the league for the new season must notify Honourary Secretary Ger Smyth by a deadline of July 13th. Participation fees for junior teams stand at €200 while it is €100 for minors and U-17s. However, due to the Covid-19 crisis and the strain that it has put on clubs, the deadline for the fees has been pushed back to January 2021.

Pat Dillon has been announced as the LDL Covid-19 Compliance Officer and a date for the Limerick District League Committee AGM will be announced in due course.

The LDMC will notify all clubs on fees and dates for entry to the FAI and Munster Junior Cups when they are provided with further information.

In big news for the Limerick District League Premier Division, the officials have announced that following the first round of games, the top 6 and bottom 6 will split into two separate leagues. The LDMC announced the changes last season but scrapped the idea very early in last year’s campaign.
