Munster GAA: Munster Senior Hurling League will not be finished

The Allianz Hurling League is set to commence on February 4th, meaning realistically there will be no time to finish the competition.

Munster GAA have today confirmed that the remaining Co-op Superstores Munster Senior Hurling League fixtures will not be played.

Waterford had already secured their place in the final, with John Kiely’s men knowing that they would join them should they avoid defeat to Cork.

However, the clash with the Rebels was postponed three times due to different weather conditions. Originally, the meeting was unable to played in Mallow due to heavy fog, before a frozen pitch in Rathkeale would stop it going ahead last Wednesday.

Sunday afternoon would be the third and final attempt to fulfil the fixture, but the heavy rain that fell the night before put a stop to that plan.

Limerick take on Tipperary in a charity game for the Dillon Quirke foundation next Sunday, and the Allianz Hurling League is set to commence on February 4th, meaning realistically there will be no time to finish the competition.
