Treaty United progress in Munster Senior Cup with Midleton mauling

The hosts were off the mark after just seven minutes, when Considine capitalised on a defensive error to go through and give his side the lead.

Treaty United secured their place in the semi-final of the Munster Senior Cup on Friday, as they blitzed Midleton FC 7-0 at the Markets Field.

Striker Enda Curran bagged a hat-trick against the Cork opposition, with new signing Thomas Considine getting himself a brace, and fan-favourite Willie Armshaw also getting in on the act with two of his own.

The hosts were off the mark after just seven minutes, when Considine capitalised on a defensive error to go through and give his side the lead.

Just four minutes later Curran had his first, as the Galway native got his foot on a Stephen Christopher cross to turn home.

The impressive Curran had his second just a minute later, showing great composure to beat the keeper before calmly slotting home.

Just over ten minutes would pass before the sharpshooter had his hat-trick, his third a real poacher’s goal, finding himself in the right place to finish a low cross.

A right footed effort into the bottom left corner gave Considine his brace just before half-time, and Tommy Barrett’s side headed into the interval with a 5-0 lead.

New signing Yoyo Mahdy put Armshaw through to score his first, but it is his second which will grab the headlines.

Armshaw picked out Fionn Doherty with a fantastic rabona pass to the flank, before continuing his run to meet Doherty’s return pass and blast past the keeper to make it 7-0.

A great win for Barrett’s side, who move through to the semi-finals of the competition, and continue to build towards the new First Division season.

They get their 2024 campaign underway at the Markets Field on February 16th, as they host Cobh Ramblers, with both sides harbouring hopes of gaining promotion this season.
