eir has today been unveiled as a new official sponsor of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship for the next five years. The partnership further cements the long-standing relationship between eir, Ireland’s superfast broadband network, and the GAA, Ireland’s largest community organisation.

Hannon has lifted the Liam MacCarthy in each of the last three seasons as Limerick saw off Kilkenny in an epic All-Ireland final to seal a three in a row in July. Hannon made history as the first player to lift the title on four occasions as captain, adding to the 2018 triumph where Limerick ended a 45-year famine.

The five-year deal, which begins with the 2023 Championship season, will highlight the synergies that exist between hurling, the world’s fastest field sport, and eir, which is committed to providing full fibre superfast broadband to over 1.9 million homes and businesses across Ireland.

eir, which has been a partner of the GAA since 2011, is currently working to improve connectivity for individuals, homes, and businesses across the country by investing €250 million per year in its network to improve speed, coverage, and resilience, with 5G already available to 70% of the population and full fibre broadband passed over 900,000 homes and businesses.

Today’s announcement further strengthens eir’s sponsorship commitments. eir have proudly sponsored Special Olympics Ireland since 1985 – one of Ireland’s longest continuous corporate social responsibility relationships. eir providing particular support for the Special Olympics Young Athlete Programme, offered to boys and girls with an intellectual disability from 4 to 12 years of age.
