Four Limerick players named on GAA.ie Hurling Team of the Week after booking All-Ireland final spot

Limerick were made to work as they sealed a place in the All-Ireland final for the third successive season.

After being pushed all the way by a dogged Galway outfit, four Limerick players have been named in the GAA.ie Hurling Team of the Week after they outlasted the Tribesmen 0-27 to 1-21 for a place in the All-Ireland final.

Sean Finn, Barry Nash, Kyle Hayes and Aaron Gillane were all instrumental in helping Limerick back to the final for the fourth time in five years.

There they will meet Kilkenny who have six players selected after they were imperious in defeating Clare.

Limerick’s opponents from Sunday, Galway, have four chosen on the team as they gave it their all in Croke Park.

Incredibly, Aaron Gillane is selected on the team of the week for the fourth time this year in his fifth appearance. The Patrickswell man set the tone early with five first half points from play as he finished with 0-8 overall.

Barry Nash makes the side for the second successive game and third time overall as he powered into the game as he looks all but set to win another All-Star. He even chipped in with an excellent score in the first half from inside his own half.

He is joined by fellow defender Sean Finn who is reaching the levels of 2021 where he was nominated for Hurler of the Year from corner back. When Galway pushed hard down the stretch, Finn was like a one man wall in keeping the Tribesmen at bay.

Man of the match on the day, Kyle Hayes is chosen at wing forward after playing a starring role. The Kildimo Pallaskenry man chipped in with 0-3 from play but was a constant menace for the Galway rearguard as he was successful with a number of turnovers.

As mentioned above, their All-Ireland finalists dominated the team of the week with six, Galway had four while Clare had one selected.
