Limerick collect maiden League victory with Tipp triumph

Limerick 0-30
Tipperary 1-23

Limerick collected their first victory of the 2025 League campaign as they, in near usual fashion, saw off Tipperary with a dominant second half display.

Trailing by a point at half-time, John Kiely’s men spread around the scores to ensure they added perfectly to the point collected on Leeside last weekend.

Diarmaid Byrnes, Aidan O’Connor and Paddy O’Donovan all delighted fans with an exhibition of shooting. Limerick lost Kyle Hayes to an injury, which appeared precautionary, while there was debuts for Hugh Flanagan and Dylan Lynch from the bench.

Limerick also gave a first competitive start to Doon’s Eddie Stokes while Shane Dowling lined out in a county jersey for the first time since 2019.

Tipperary led at half-time with Sean Keannelly’s stunning goal lighting up the Gaelic Grounds. He doubled on a pass from Darragh McCarthy, to find the top corner.

The sides had swapped leads several times, with Aidan O’Connor linking well in attack.

O’Donnovan helped wrestle back control at the start of the second half and despite being level again, Limerick began to head for victory when David Reidy’s second put them back in front.
