Limerick kick off Allianz league campaign with Antrim meeting

John Kiely’s men won the 2023 edition of the League, getting the better of Kilkenny in the final having finished second in their group stage.

Limerick begin their 2024 Allianz League campaign as they meet Antrim in FBD Semple Stadium this Sunday, with throw-in set for 2pm

The sides will meet in Division 1B, with both teams safe in the knowledge that there will be no relegations from Division 1A or 1B this year.

Instead, the top three teams from each division will form a new top division, with the two fourth-placed teams competing for the seventh final spot.

John Kiely’s men won the 2023 edition of the League, getting the better of Kilkenny in the final having finished second in their group stage.

Antrim finished fifth in their group, a victory over Laois saving them from relegation, having lost all their other games.

It remains to be seen what calibre of team Kiely will opt to field, although it is expected that Limerick will be heavily rotated, with a number of players from the Munster Senior League games likely to get a chance.

Tickets for Sunday’s clash are available at GAA.ie or in selected SuperValu and Centra stores. U16s go free.
