Limerick Ladies Footballers prepare for League final with Offaly

Both of Limerick’s adult football teams are in League final action this weekend.

Less than 24 hours after the men’s side take on Louth in the Division 3 league final in Croke, the ladies side will be in League final action against Offaly in Birr.

Early pace setters in Division 4, Limerick, will look to overturn home advantage for their opponents when their clash throws in at 2pm on Sunday.

Graham Shine’s side were victorious when these teams met in the group stages in February and will be keen on a similar result that will also ensure promotion like their male counterparts.

Limerick held home advantage when they were 3-4 to 1-6 victors in Martinstown earlier this spring. That secured Limerick’s side in the semi-finals where they overcame Fermanagh.

Offaly finished behind Limerick in 4B but were victorious over Leitrim in their semi-final tie to set up a rematch with the Shannonsiders in the final.

Speaking after the Fermanagh victory, Shine was fully focused on giving a performance in the final.

“As I said semi-finals are for winning, we won it and now we are focused for the final

“Limerick’s target at the start of the year was to get to the final, If any day you get to that final you have a fifty fifty chance and that’s what we have been banking on. We are there now, we have two weeks to focus in on the final and we will give anyone a run for their money in the final.”

Limerick take on Offaly in Birr in the Lidl Ladies national Football League Division 4 final on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
