Limerick SFC Final Round Permutations

It’s a straight shoot out for second place between KP and Caseys who are both guaranteed a quarter-final berth.

The stage is set for the concluding round in the Limerick SFC this weekend with one knockout berth and a single relegation finalists to be decided.

Last year’s finalists Adare and Newcastle West are safely through to the semi-finals with Kildimo Pallaskenry, Fr Caseys and Monaleen in the quarters.

Who joins them will be confirmed on Sunday afternoon while the previous evening, the team to join Ballylanders in the relegation final will be revealed.

Below we look at the permutations for each of the twelve teams in their final game.

Group One

Newcastle West (8 points)

The defending back to back champions will top the group regardless of final round results.

Kildimo Pallaskenry (6 pts)

It’s a straight shoot out for second place between KP and Caseys who are both guaranteed a quarter-final berth. KP hold the advantage in terms of scoring so a draw will be enough for them.

Fr Caseys (6 pts)

The same scenario presents itself for the Abbeyfeale men. Win and they finish second, lose and it’s third.

St Kierans (2 pts)

Out of the reckoning for the knockout stages but Kierans need a point to ensure safety. If they lose to Claughaun they can be pulled into relegation danger. If they lose and Oola beat Newcastle West then St Kierans will be in the relegation final.

Oola (2 pts)

If they pick up a point against Newcastle West they will be safe. Also will be safe if St Kierans beat Claughaun. Were they to lose and Cluaghaun beat St Kierans, there would be a three-way tie on two points where the relegation battle would be decided on scoring differential.

Claughaun (0 pts)

Anything but a win will see them into a relegation play off.

Group Two

Adare (8 points)

Like NCW, last year’s finalists will top the group and move into the semi-finals regardless of their result this weekend.

Monaleen (6 pts)

Monaleen are guaranteed to finish second in the group regardless of the fifth round results. They have the head to head on both Na Piarsaigh and Ballysteen whilst also having the scoring difference on both.

Na Piarsaigh (4 pts)

If Na Piarsaigh better Ballysteen’s result then they will qualify for the quarter-finals. If Ballysteen win and they lose then they will miss out on the knockouts.

Ballysteen (4 pts)

Need to better Na Piarsaigh’s result against Ballylanders or their season will come to an end. Na Piarsaigh and Monaleen both have the H2H on the West outfit.

Galtee Gaels (2 pts)

Due to the new ruling where teams finishing level on points will see just the scoring difference between those sides calculated, Galtee Gaels cannot get ahead of Na Piarsaigh. Also cannot be relegated as they have the Head to Head on Ballylanders.

Ballylanders (0 pts)

Will compete in the relegation final for the second successive year.
