Preview | UL aim for second ever final as they take on DCU in Sigerson Cup semi-final

UL look to book a place in the Sigerson Cup semi-final tonight night at 7:30pm

UL travel to Carlow this evening to play DCU in the Sigerson Cup semi-final. The UL side is managed by Limerick native Declan Brouder with Paul Maher of Adare as captain.

Outsie of that, the team is sprinkled with intercounty stars such as David Clifford, Stefan Okunbor, Sean Powter, Emmett McMahon and Eoghan McLaughlin to name a couple.

Clifford is in the form of his life in the tournament tearing apart every player that’s marked him. He has accounted for 5-16 thus far in just three games.

However, Okunbor and O’Loughlin are both injury doubts for the game.

The team has scored 8-50 in the previous three games in the cup, defeating Sligo IT, LyIT and Queens University Belfast en route to the last four.

UL will be looking to contest their second final ever with the last time they played in the Sigerson Cup final coming in 1997 when they were defeated by Tralee IT.

DCU know how to win, being the most recent team to claim the Sigerson cup out of the final four with NUIG and MTU Kerry in the other side of the draw. They meet tonight in Mick Neville Park at 6pm.

The Dublin outfit are also 100% from their games, accounting for Maynooth, St Mary’s and UUJ thus far.

However, UL will still be favoured to advance as outrights favourites to claim Sigerson honours next week.

Tonight’s game will be streamed live by Higher Education GAA on their Facebook and YouTube channels.
