Referee confirmed for Limerick’s All-Ireland semi-final with Galway

Owens was the man in the middle for the meeting of the sides in the 2018 All-Ireland Final as Limerick ended a 45-year wait for Liam MacCarthy honours.

The GAA can confirm the referees for next weekend’s All-Ireland SHC Semi-Finals at Croke Park with James Owens to take charge of Limerick’s clash with Galway.

On Saturday evening at GAA headquarters the Wexford official, Owens, will take charge of meeting of the Treaty and Tribesmen. That game forms part of a double header with Antrim versus Tipperary in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship Quarter-Final between Antrim and Tipperary.

Owens was the man in the middle for the meeting of the sides in the 2018 All-Ireland Final as Limerick ended a 45-year wait for Liam MacCarthy honours. The Wexford native was in charge when they faced off in the semi-finals two years later.

Limerick were victorious on both occasions and made it three on the bounce in the semi-finals last year where Thomas Walsh was the man in the middle.

The following afternoon (4pm) the All-Ireland SHC Semi-Final involving Kilkenny and Clare will be refereed by Cork’s Colm Lyons. At 1.30pm on Sunday Cork face Kilkenny in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship Quarter-Final.
