Republic of Ireland were handed an extremely tough draw for the Euro 2024 qualification campaign on Sunday as they were placed in Group B next to the Netherlands, France, Greece and Gibraltar. It will certainly be an uphill task for Stephen Kenny’s men who finished their Nations League campaign last month with a 3-2 win over Armenia.
Ireland have made it to two of the last three European Championships in 2012 and 2016 but failed to qualify for the 2020 tournament. Kenny took charge for the play-off defeat to Slovakia after Mick McCarthy’s term had come to an end.
His side will begin their Euro 2024 campaign on March 27th with a home game against one of the group favourites France. That will be followed up by a double header in June as Ireland travel to face Greece on June 16th before returning to Ireland to host Gibraltar at the Aviva Stadium three days later. The venues for the away ties have not been confirmed as of yet.
