WATCH: “About time we won one”- Doon’s goalscorer O’Grady delighted with U21 win

When the U21 Premier County Final between Doon and Na Piarsaigh was in the melting pot, up stepped Doon’s Dúbhan O’Grady to notch a superb goal that would eventually prove to be the difference between the sides.

After a number of losses in the final in recent years, relief was the overriding emotion for the hardworking midfielder.

“It’s great. A bout time we won one! We’ve lost five in a row so it’s nice to finally win one.”

On 48 minutes, with his side down, O’Grady received the ball midway between Na Piarsaigh’s 21′ and 45′ with three defenders chasing relentlessly after him.

Managing to wrigle his way through the challenges, O’Grady expertly flicked the ball into the Na Piarsaigh net with one hand to push his side into the lead, a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

With so much to do once he got the ball, O’Grady was adamant it was no fluke.

“The goal was always in my head. I knew we needed something. It was nice to get it!”
