WATCH – Corrigan Brothers and LGC ‘Sporting Limerick Magic Hurling’

A Song dedicated to the Limerick senior hurling team has been released by the Limerick Gospel Choir and the Corrigan Brothers.

45 Years after their last victory over Kilkenny the Limerick hurlers march to an All Ireland semi-final meeting with Cork.

To celebrate, the Corrigan Brothers, the band from Limerick who celebrated Barack Obama’s Irish heritage in song to a multi million Youtube audience have teamed up with the Limerick Gospel Choir.

The Brothers have re written Billy Joel’s ” we didn’t start the fire” name checking the Limerick past and current greats.

Ger Corrigan, singer and songwriter with the group explained the background to the song

“We have been amazed by Limerick’s fantastic season so we wrote the song and asked our friends in the Limerick Gospel Choir to join us. The Limerick Gospel choir are amazingly talented. They said yes and we recorded it live a few weeks ago. We had to keep our fingers crossed for the Kilkenny match but the Limerick Lads delivered as we hoped they would”.

The Brothers and the Limerick Gospel Choir are hoping to perform the song for the team. “We would love that performance to be in Limerick City if the Liam MacCarthy cup comes home. Maybe Hurling is come home”, continued Ger.

Lyrics(Ger Corrigan), Musical Direction/Piano (David Idioh), Original Song (Billy Joel-We Didn’t start the Fire) Guitar (Ger & Tommy Corrigan).
