WATCH: Minor Football manager Joe Lee reflects on ‘disappointing’ decision to pause underage Championships

On Monday night when the government announced their decision to move the entire country into a Level 5 for six weeks, it was revealed that the GAA would continue.

However, yesterday it was announced that underage intercounty competitions would be put on pause.

The Limerick minor footballers were scheduled to begin their campaign on Saturday against Waterford with manager Joe Lee ‘disappointed’ the decision and lack of clarity pertaining to the future of the competition.

“It’s very disappointing, especially so close to the game. On Monday when they brought out the restrictions and there was no mention of it, I thought we were good to go. Then yesterday it broke that it was only senior, it was very disappointing, especially for the young lads.

“I think they should come out and be more definitive about it anyways.”
