After waiting four years between 2014-18 to play at Headquarters, Limerick travel to Croke Park this Saturday for their fourth game there in the past 12 months.
Ahead of the game, Limerick goalkeeper Nickie Quaid says his side have no fears about playing in Ireland’s premier stadium with little concern about surroundings once the game begins.
“At the end of the day, it’s four white lines, there’s two goalposts and the grass is green. When the ball is thrown in you don’t really take notice of the surroundings.”
Saturday provides Limerick with the chance to make it to back-to-back All-Ireland finals for the first time since 1973-’74 where they met Saturday’s opponents Kilkenny in both deciders.
The chance to make it back to Croke Park for the biggest game of the year is not lost on Quaid, but he admits there is plenty left to be done to ensure that becomes a reality.
“It would be huge. That’s why we play the game and we’re ultimately here to win medals and play in these big games in Croke Park.”
“Our goal since the Tipperary game has been focused on the semi-final, getting a performance and winning the semi-final.”
