For Na Piarsaigh, the Limerick SHC final is nothing new. This is the Cahervdavin club’s sixth final appearance this decade that has seen them win four county championships as well as one All Ireland title.
However, for Na Piarsaigh man, Paul Beary, it will be a first time managing the side in the final. Beary is looking forward to the clash and outlines the pride involved in leading out his side on the biggest day in Limerick club hurling.
“Very proud, extremely proud. My father was a co-founding member of Na Piarsaigh back in 1968 so this is the 50th year of our foundation. So from my
perspective there’s a huge amount of pride to be involved.”
Beary acknowledges the work that has been done at underage levels to ensure that Na Piarsaigh have firmly established themselves as a powerhouse in Limerick and Munster hurling in their relatively limited time as a club.
“But, at the end of the day, I’m one small part of a backroom, management team and
there’s a huge amount of people putting in a huge amount of effort both in the current management team at senior level and other management teams at underage level.”Without that investment that comes year on year, these guys wouldn’t be as good as they are, as well prepared as they are.”
